Chains
How do you break the chains in your mind,
that keep you restrained and leave you so blind.
You toss and you turn as you lay in that bed,
self pity and loathing just scream in your head.
Imprisoned by love that once you both shared,
the scars turn to bars that your heart must now bear.
That heart beating deep in the pit of your gut,
your head pounding fierce when your mind just won't shut.
How do you break those chains in your mind,
when sadness and anguish are all you can find.
You quiver your lips and you wrinkle your nose,
your tears have run dry so the anger explodes.
Forgiveness is key to the healing you need,
it is not for them, but so you can be freed.
Let go of that anger that runs through your veins,

Hand
Hand
Jesus I'm praying please lend us your hand,
so many are dying, we don’t understand.
A virus has come and it touches us all,
the young and the old, even strong ones will fall.
The pain that it brings just keeps spreading so fast,
it's taking your world, won't you please take it back?
I know that your hurting, from those turned away,
but many still love you and many still pray.
I know you'll return and in time they will see,
that through all the time, Jesus you'll always be,
the healer the savior the king of all lands,
To Cold to Cry
To Cold to Cry
When did this world turn to cold to cry,
compassion is rare and emotions have died.
People are lost and no one seems to care,
making it worse as they point or they stare.
Some are pathetic and others are mean,
laughing and scoffing or causing a scene.
Our people need help and depression is real,
its time we take action, its past time we heal.
Its time to stop fighting and digging up bones,
the hating, the baiting, the throwing of stones.
It starts in our hands, for we each hold a key,
to pass down the love and compassion they need.
Our children bring change when we show them the way,
with hope love and kindness we must start today.
There's hope for tomorrow if each of us try,

Depression is a shadow.
Depression is a shadow, always lingering, always there.
Sometimes it is in front of you disrupting your view making it hard to navigate.
Sometimes your on top of it, seemingly in control but always on that edge.
Sometimes it is behind you, always nipping at your heels, always waiting for the next time it can overtake you and leave you in the dark again.
Depression is a shadow that even in the brightest light is still there and like the voice in your head it is always there.
Depression is a shadow.
